Mr. Mohammad Al Baijat
Mr. Al Baijat has a solid education in power engineering and proven twelve (12) years of working experience in Market Applications, Power Systems, Operations, EMS and Optimization.  Mr. Al Baijat has design, implementation, testing and maintenance of power system and market applications software (Ancillary Services, Congestion Management, RTMA (RTC, RTD)).  In addition he also has extensive experience in the design, implementation, testing and maintaining network power system applications and EMS applications (Power Flow, Optimal Power Flow, Contingency Analysis, State Estimation, DTS, etc.) along with network scheduling applications (Unit Commitment with Transmission Constraints and Different type of constraints).

Mr. Al Baijat has worked in different deregulation projects (CAISO, NYISO, IESO, KPX and ERCOT).  He is very strong in testing power systems deregulation software applications; preparing test cases, executing test cases as well as overall test management.

Some of Mr. Al Baijat’s other skills include:

  • Optimization Tools using MINUS, CPLEX and MATLAB.
  • Seven (7) years experience in power system deregulation (Most of it at the CAISO).
  • Experienced in various market models, Zonal Model, LMP, different market rules and market economics. 
  • Highly Skilled in (C, C++) based on UNIX platforms, Scripting languages (Perl and Python).
  • Proven experience in project management and execution.
  • Worked in several of the electric energy markets implemented in the world (CAISO, NYISO, IESO, South Korea System and ERCOT).

His most recent experience involves the following projects:

Electricity Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT)

  • Designed Energy Management System Applications that are capable of operating under the market nodal design proposed for the Texas energy market; Applications includes Load Forecast, Outage Schedules, Generation sub-systems, Forced Outages, Network Stability and Security, State Estimator, etc.
  • Designed System high level architecture starting from the Nodal protocols down to the system component level.
  • Supported the development, implementation, testing and installation of the State Estimation (SE) function of the new Texas Nodal Market.
  • Supported the development of various tools, software packages, project objectives and timelines of functions to support the SE application of the Texas Nodal Market.
  • Supported the development, implementation, testing and installation of other advanced application functions in the EMS that provide data to downstream market functions in the ERCOT Nodal market.
  • Assisted ERCOT to achieve its objectives and deliverables related to the SCADA and State Estimation functions. 
  • Worked with the Operations team, modeling team, ICCP team, Nodal team and market participants to meet the TAC approved State Estimation and technical standards described in the program chart.
  • Provided quality control and assurance of all technical solutions proposed an implemented as part of this project.
  • Provided delivery capability and ensure the software rollout process is smooth and without problems.
  • Performed required studies, evaluate findings, recommend solutions and follow up to ensure the successful completion of this project.

SIEMENS Inc.

  • Prepared test cases, test scenarios, test data and executed tests for FAT, SAT for the complete functionality of the IFM and RTN Applications.
  • Prepared test data required for the testing for the complete functionality of the Market Applications.
  • Supported test executions for Pre-FAT, FAT, SAT for the complete functionality of the Market Applications.
  • Followed up and resolved technical problem related to the software implementation of the baseline Market Applications.

California Independent System Operator (CAISO) on MRTU project:

  • Developed detailed specifications from the business requirements for complex large scale Market Applications (IFM, RTN, HASP, RUC and MQS) for the CAISO MRTU project.
  • Prepared test cases, test scenarios, test data and executed tests though Pre-FAT, FAT, SAT for the baseline IFM and RTN Applications.
  • Prepared test data required for the testing of the baseline Market Applications.
  • Supported test executions for Pre-FAT, FAT, SAT of the baseline Market Applications.
  • Followed up and resolved technical problem related to the software implementation of the baseline Market Applications.
